What I learnt in 14 days of Self Isolation : How to maintain normality by getting dressed

Today marks our fourteenth day of mandatory self isolation after my family and I arrived home from the USA (just in time!) My goodness, it felt amazing to be home. After a long journey with two small children in tow we were jet lagged, exhausted and trying to make sense of the chaos that was unfolding around us. But we were also resigned to the fact that we HAD to stay in our home to ensure the safety of others, as well as our own.

We have had our ups and downs, good days and bad. As many in our community are also experiencing, juggling a flailing business, home schooling and staying sane is no easy feat! Once we threw the rules out the window and started taking it day by day things became easier. Improvising, being kind and enjoying each other has helped us find our way and find gratitude as a family. How lucky are we to have a comfortable home with ample space and a garden?!

Now we're all in this together (socially distant but together) I wanted to share the few things I make sure I do every day, getting dressed being one of the big ones! I won't lie, I spent a few days in my PJs and Ugg boots but when I made a little effort everything else flowed from there.
Read on for my top tips on how to remain comfy and somewhat stylish while you enjoy the peace and quiet of your own home.

I am lucky enough to own a few cashmere jumpers from Mia Fratino. All of them are going strong and are in mint condition which is a testament to the quality of these garments. (I've had mine for a couple of years). My favourite shape is the Favourite Cowl, it feels gorgeous to wear and looks great with everything.
I live in denim jeans all year round and wear them everywhere. There are endless options out there, skinny leg, straight leg, high rise, mid rise etc etc. Jeans are the perfect companion to a great T-shirt. Mela Purdie's premium jersey is a fabric I have been wearing most days, it's durable and polished. I have been swapping between my Crescent T and my Cafe T.

Of course we'd be nowhere without a decent pair of tracksuit pants in our wardrobes. I just travelled in my Mela Purdie Compact Track pants as they are smart enough to leave the house but comfortable enough to sit in on a plane for 14 hours! We just got a re stock of the fabulous Mela Purdie Zip Stiletto Pant which are another a great option. Perfect to wear with any track pant are the modal basics by Tani. The hand feel of this range is super luxe and super comfy! I love the Swing Turtleneck which sits away from the body, perfect for snuggling up with a cup of tea and a good book.

As I have been saying to my children every day, it's ok if you don't know what to do or how to feel. None of us have ever experienced a situation like this before and it's hard when you don't know how long the road ahead of us is.
Scott and I are doing everything we can to keep Impulse going strong and to remain connected to our beloved customers. I would like to say a huge heartfelt thank you to everyone for their messages of support at this difficult time.

Stay home, be kind to yourself and stay positive. It's the perfect excuse to get stuck into those annoying jobs around the house (I've already defrosted my freezer and decluttered my linen press!). Let's enjoy this glorious Autumn weather in our gardens, walking while we can and look after each other.
Much love, Philippa xo
